Making an IDE progressive web app
(of sorts)
As of today, markwhen.com is a progressive web app! ๐ŸŽ‰ I had been meaning to do this for a while, and actually attempted it a few months ago, but was discouraged when I got my site into a state such that it wasn't updating even when I was making changes. That was unsettling and turned me off from deploying it.
But, thanks to vite-pwa, some good reference implementations, documentation, and the ability to put tabs in the title bar area, I went for it again (successfully (so far)) and got it done in a weekend.
And I have to say it does feel quite rewarding to be writing this post in my own PWA editor! I know calling it an IDE is a stretch, but it looks like an IDE, right?
Here's my take on what went well and what didn't.
